Saily eSIM for the USA: the Number Add On and Its Passport Check
For visitors to the United States the question is almost always the same: do I need an American number, or just data? Saily is unusual because it can answer both, and the terms on each half are very different.
We compete with them and we lose on one of those halves, which we say plainly below.
The data half
A normal travel eSIM. You buy a USA plan in the app, install the profile and connect through partner networks. Coverage in cities and along interstates is strong, and the gaps are the familiar American ones: national parks, desert stretches and parts of the mountain west, where every provider thins out.
- App features included. An ad blocker, which Saily says saved 28.6 percent of mobile data on average in an independent test, web protection against known malicious addresses, and virtual location with more than 115 locations. The ad blocker is the one that pays for itself on a metered plan.
- Virtual location is not a full VPN. It routes traffic through Nord servers and changes your apparent location. Nord still sells NordVPN separately for the complete product.
- Card and account. Email, password, payment method. Ordinary retail.
The number half, and its condition
Saily's US number add on gives you a real American number for calls and texts, managed inside the same app. For a visitor that solves genuine problems: American services that refuse foreign numbers, businesses that will not call internationally, and verification codes that only go to domestic lines.
The condition is the part that decides it for a lot of readers. Saily activates that number only after an identity check with a passport, ID card or driving licence. That is a reasonable thing for them to do under the rules they operate by. It is also the exact step that someone comparing no KYC options is trying to avoid, so it should be stated before you get to the upload screen rather than after.
- Saily can give you an American number. It cannot give you an American number without knowing who you are. Those are different products, and only one of them is being searched for here.
Where Saily wins for the USA
- It has a US number at all. Most travel eSIMs, ours included, do not. If that is your requirement, this is a real advantage and no amount of comparison writing changes it.
- The app features are useful. Ad blocking on a metered plan, and virtual location for services that behave differently by country.
- Card payment. Which US sites and apps assume anyway.
- A brand with a security reputation. Worth something when you are handing over identity documents.
Where it does not fit
- The ID check. For the number only, but it is there.
- The account. Email and card, attached to the purchase.
- No crypto. Card only.
- App dependence. Install and manage through it, including the number.

Saily and Cypher eSIM for the USA
Read our column with suspicion, and note where we concede.
US number. They have one, with an ID check. We have none at all. If an American number is the requirement, they are the answer and we are not.
Numbers we do sell. No documents required. The cheapest with a number is $20.33 at the time of writing for the United Kingdom on a +44 line with 22GB over 30 days and 500 minutes, Europe+ is $37.38 for 20GB over 30 days with calls and 200 texts on a French +33 number, and Global Lite is $56.07 across 66 countries. None of those is American, so they will not satisfy a service that insists on a domestic US line.
US data price. Ours from about $2.02 at the time of writing, as part of 180+ countries from about $1.20 depending on destination.
How you buy. They need an account, an email and a card. We need nothing: pick, pay, QR on the page. Crypto only: USDT on TRC-20, BEP-20, Arbitrum and Solana, plus BTC, ETH, SOL, USDC, DAI, XMR and TON. No Lightning and no card.
Extra features. Theirs exist, ours do not. We sell connectivity.
Install location. Our USA plans activate inside US networks, so they install on arrival. Regional and global plans install anywhere.
Which to pick
- Saily if: you need an American number and will do the ID check, or you want the app features and card payment.
- Us if: you need data only and want no account, no email and no documents anywhere in the purchase.
- A US prepaid carrier if: you want an American number for a longer stay. Just check the activation rules first, because at least one well known operator requires you to be physically in the United States before the eSIM will switch on.

The honest limits on our side
No American number, no card, no app, no account and no security suite. Our USA plans install on arrival. Our number lives as long as the plan and then returns to the pool. And no KYC means nobody asked who you are, not that the network stopped seeing the handset, which still reports its IMEI and its location every time it connects.
FAQ
Does Saily give a US phone number?
Yes, through a US number add on that provides a real American line for calls and texts managed inside their app. The condition is that Saily activates it only after an identity check with a passport, ID card or driving licence.
Is Saily good for travel in the USA?
For data, yes. Coverage through partner networks is strong in cities and along major routes, and the app's ad blocker helps on a metered plan. The weak spots are the usual American ones: national parks, deserts and parts of the mountain west.
Can I get a US number without ID?
Not from Saily, and not from us either, because we do not sell American numbers. US prepaid carriers are the realistic route, and their requirements vary, with at least one requiring you to be physically in the United States before the eSIM activates.
Do Saily's security features hide my identity?
No. The ad blocker, web protection and virtual location affect what your phone loads and where it appears to be. The purchase still involves an account, an email and a card, and the number add on involves a document check.
How much is a USA eSIM from Cypher eSIM?
From about $2.02 at the time of writing, as part of 180+ countries from about $1.20 depending on destination. No account, no email, no ID, crypto payment only, and the plan installs on arrival because it activates inside US networks.
Which is better for the USA?
If you need an American number, Saily, and accept the ID check. If you need data without leaving an account or documents anywhere, us. Those are different requirements and the answer follows the requirement, not the brand.
